Equine Assisted Psychotherapy

Horses Helping People

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is an experiential therapy incorporating horses with people to address mental health needs and personal development goals.

EAP sessions are interactive: the therapeutic exchange between the client, horse(s), and facilitators unfolds in real time.  This hands-on approach facilitates deep transformation by combining embodied, somatic experience with a cognitive understanding of one's own process. EAP is a supportive addition to traditional talk therapy and can enhance therapeutic sessions taking place in an office setting.  Alternatively, EAP serves as an effective stand-alone therapy.  EAP sessions are conducted under the EAGALA Model, the internationally-recognized standard for Equine Assisted Psychotherapy.  This model utilizes a team approach that includes Amardeepa as the licensed, credentialed Mental Health Professional, a certified Equine Specialist, and horses working together with the client at all times.
